Mamadou Diouf is the Leitner Family Professor of African Studies and the director of Columbia’s Institute of African Studies. He is the editor, most recently, of Tolerance, Democracy, and Sufis in Senegal and Les arts de la citoyenneté au Sénégal (with Rosalind Fredericks).
