NYC subway station mosaic of Audre Lorde
David "Dee" Delgado

A new series of glass mosaics in the 167th Street station on the B and D lines honors famed Bronxites, including Audre Lorde ’60LS, the poet, writer, and lesbian feminist activist. A crusader against racism, sexism, and homophobia, Lorde, who died of cancer in 1992 at age fifty-eight, called poetry “part of my weaponry.”
